Getting an Estimate on your Projects
Unless you have worked with a contractor previously, and have trust in that company,
it is wise to get quotations from at least 3 contractors,
to make sure that you are not paying too much (or too little!) for your project.
Note: I currently work on a time and material basis and do not quote projects!
If you have a larger project, I would suggest that you do get a firm quote!
Considerations
- Is the company stable? (having been in business for some time)
- Is the company licensed in your area?
- Is the company insured?
- Make sure your all your quotes are based on exactly the same specifications.
- Compare the terms of the quotations.
- Will the company be available to start and complete your project according to your schedule?
- Will the company provide references?
- Make sure you sign a contract that will protect both parties to the agreement.
